Paper posters for indoor frames
Frames are less forgiving than walls. A print a few millimetres out will buckle or leave a gap, so measure first and choose the size second.

Measure the frame, not the label.
Frames bought as "A2" or "20 x 16" can differ slightly from one maker to the next. Take the backing out and do this:
- Measure the inside of the frame, where the print sits, across the width and height.
- Measure the visible opening at the front. The lip of the frame hides a few millimetres of print on each side.
- If there is a card mount, measure its window as well. That is all that people will see.
- Keep text and logos inside the visible area, with some room to spare.
- If the frame is not a listed size, tell us and ask about trimming to suit.
Inch sizes and A sizes do not swap
A3 is 297mm x 420mm. A 16in x 12in sheet is about 406mm x 305mm. They sound alike, but the shapes are different, and one will not fill a frame made for the other. Our list gives approximate metric figures, so if you are working to a tight frame, go by the exact size you measured. See inch and metric print sizes for conversions.
Pricing a set of frames
Volume prices apply to prints of the same size in one order, and they do not need to be the same picture. So a corridor of A2 frames, each with a different image, can qualify for the lower rates.
| Size | 1 print | 5+ prints | 20+ prints |
|---|---|---|---|
| A3 | £7.99 | £5.50 | £3.99 |

A minimum order value of £35 applies to large format poster printing, so ask us how this affects a small order.
Gloss or matt behind glass?
Glass already adds shine, so a matt poster behind it tends to look calm and even. A glossy sheet pressed flat against glazing can stick to it over time. If you prefer gloss, use a mount to create a small gap. For larger pieces, see framing large prints.
Getting it in flat
Rolled posters want to stay rolled. Lay the print face up under clean card for a few hours, then wipe the inside of the glass before you close the frame. A speck of dust trapped there is bound to end up in the middle of a pale sky.

Your questions.
Can you trim a print to fit an unusual frame?
Ask us. Give us the size you need and leave a little room in the artwork, because a frame can hide more of the image than you expect.
Should I add bleed for a framed poster?
If the design runs to the edge, yes. Include bleed so that small trimming differences do not leave a white line. Our guide to bleed explains how.
Can you supply the frames too?
Framing is available on request. Tell us the size, how many and the look you want and we will talk you through it.
