PVC banner printing

When people ask for a banner, they usually mean PVC. Businesses, schools and event teams choose PVC banner printing because the material is tough, weather resistant and easy to fix with eyelets.

What PVC is good at, and where it isn't

PVC is a flexible coated material that copes well with rain and handling, which makes it a dependable choice for shopfronts, fences, gazebos and event walls. Its weakness is wind. A solid sheet catches it, so for exposed, high or very long runs, mesh banners may be safer. Indoors, it can show a slight sheen and feel less refined than fabric banners, especially under stage lights. Choose it when durability and a straightforward finish matter more than a soft, premium look.

Weights and finishes in plain terms

Banner material comes in different weights, usually expressed in grams per square metre. A heavier grade feels more substantial and can resist tearing better, while lighter grades may suit a brief indoor promotion. Finishing turns a printed sheet into something usable:

  • Hemmed edges add strength.
  • Eyelets provide fixing points.
  • Pole pockets let a banner hang from a bar.

Ask us which grade and finish suit your job, because the answer changes with size and how long it will hang.

Looking after a PVC banner

Roll PVC rather than folding it to reduce creases. A stubborn crease often relaxes if the banner is hung in a warm room, although it may not vanish altogether. Wipe off dirt with mild soapy water and let it dry before storing, because damp rolled material can mark. Sun and wind will shorten the life of anything outdoors, so a long-term display needs a periodic check of its fixings. If you plan on repeat PVC banner printing, keep your files safe; our artwork guide covers setup.

Useful to know

Your questions.

Can PVC banners be printed on both sides?

Yes, although a double-sided banner normally needs a blockout material so the reverse print does not show through. Mention if it will be seen from both directions, and we can go through the options.

How long will a PVC banner last outdoors?

It varies with the material grade, exposure, wind and fixings. A sheltered banner will generally last longer than one on an exposed fence. Knowing the location and duration helps us point you to a suitable grade.
