Will that phone photo print well?

Photos are the most common stumbling block for birthday banner printing. An old snap scanned at a small size, or a picture saved from social media, will often look soft when enlarged, so hunt for the original file rather than a screenshot. A banner is seen from a few steps back, which forgives a little, but faces need to stay clear. If you only have a paper print, scan it as large as you can. Choosing a size without guessing

Measure the wall or fence where it will hang before you pick anything. A long, narrow banner suits a hall wall or a garden fence, while a taller format works better when guests will pose in front of it. If you are unsure, mark the area with masking tape to see the real scale. Keep the wording short, because a name and age read from across a room, whereas a long joke needs people to walk up close.

Hanging it on the day

Think about fixings when ordering, not an hour before the guests arrive. Eyelets are useful for tying a PVC banner to fences, gazebos or railings with cable ties or cord. In a hired hall, check what the venue allows, as many will not accept tape or pins on the walls. A lightweight fabric banner can be easier to hang indoors and folds away afterwards. Outdoors, tie off at every eyelet and take the banner down if strong wind picks up.
