Product launch graphics

A launch is one day with no second take, so the print has to be right before the doors open. This page is for marketing teams and agencies planning product launch graphics, from a single display to a full room.

Work back from the reveal, not the print order

Late packaging shots and last-minute name changes are the usual risks. Split the job in two: structural items such as exhibition displays and room branding that can be signed off early, and reveal pieces that carry the product itself. That keeps late approvals to a few panels rather than the whole set. If a pack shot is still being retouched, build the layout with a placeholder at the correct size, so the swap is a small edit and not a redesign.

Give the product one hero surface

Launch rooms get crowded with messaging. Pick one surface where the product appears large, and let everything else support it. Guests will photograph that spot, so check how it reads on a phone screen as well as from the back row. Glossy finishes can catch stage lights and spoil those pictures, which is why matt materials often suit lit rooms. A printed backdrop with a simple layout usually does more than several busy panels.

Planning for the tour after launch day

Many launches travel on to retail, trade shows or regional events. If that is likely, separate anything dated or location-specific from your core product launch graphics, so you can reprint one panel instead of the entire set. Reusable frames with replaceable skins, such as modular displays, can help here, depending on how often the kit will move. Mention any embargo too, so we can agree how artwork and proofs are handled before the announcement.

Your questions.

Can we hold back one panel until the product name is final?

Yes, if it is planned for. Supply the fixed items first and flag the late panel when you ask for a quote, so we can work out the latest point your final artwork can reach us.

Should launch graphics be matt or gloss?

Matt is usually safer under stage lighting and camera flash because it reduces glare. Gloss can suit small product panels viewed close up. If you can, test a sample against your venue's lighting before deciding.
