Eco-textile wall hangings
A printed cloth on a wall brings softness that a board never will. Follow these steps from the first measurement to the day it goes up.

From bare wall to finished hanging.
A fabric hanging moves, drapes and catches the light differently from a framed print. It rewards a little thought about how it will hang, so treat these as stages rather than an afterthought.
- Decide what the cloth is doing. Is it a decorative piece for a reception, a heritage banner for a hall, or a temporary backdrop for a season of events? How long it stays up shapes every later choice.
- Size it against the room. Mark the outline on the wall with masking tape and allow breathing space at either side. Our listed sizes run from A2 up to 60in x 40in. Ask us if you want something longer or narrower.
- Choose how it will hang. A top bar alone gives a looser feel. A top and bottom bar pulls the fabric straighter. Hanging bars are available on request, as are eyelets and Velcro, so tell us which you prefer.
- Keep key details away from the edges. Bars and hems take up a strip at the top and bottom, and a soft edge can roll slightly. Text needs breathing room.
- Check the rules for the building. Fabric in shared or public spaces may have to meet the venue's fire safety requirements. Ask the building manager what they need to see, and ask us about the fabric before you commit.
- Unpack it early. Fabric that has been folded or rolled can arrive with soft lines. Hanging it a day or so before it is needed often lets them drop out. Ask us before using heat or steam, as the wrong treatment can mark a print.
About the word "eco"
It sounds simple, but it can mean several things: a fabric made with recycled fibre, one made without PVC, or something else entirely. If your organisation wants to describe the hanging as sustainable, ask us what can be said about the actual material, and check the wording against current guidance on green claims. Our eco-textile printing guide lists questions to ask.
The most effective step is often the plainest one. A well-made hanging without dates on it can return year after year.

Your questions.
Can a fabric hanging be washed?
Do not assume so. It depends on the fabric and the print. Tell us if you expect to clean it and we will confirm before printing.
Will the colours be as bright as on paper?
Fabric usually gives a slightly softer look, as the weave absorbs and scatters light. Many people prefer it, but ask for a sample if strong brand colours matter.
Can a hanging be fixed to a ceiling?
That depends on the ceiling and the building. Get it approved by the person responsible for the premises. Fitting arrangements can be agreed in your quote.
