Car dealership graphics

A dealership has three shop windows: the forecourt, the showroom and the cars driving around town with your name on them. This page is for dealer principals, marketing managers and independent traders planning car dealership graphics.

Courtesy cars and demonstrators as moving adverts

Branded courtesy cars and vans are often seen by more people than any forecourt sign. Part wraps and door panels from our vehicle graphics service keep the paint visible, which suits a car that will be sold on later. Before applying anything, check the terms if it is leased, and inspect the paintwork, as graphics can lift poor resprays when removed. Keep glass clear unless you have checked the rules on window coverings, and ensure that no graphic interferes with the driver's view.

Franchise rules versus independent freedom

Franchised dealers normally work within detailed manufacturer brand standards covering logos, fascia colours and showroom finishes, and often need artwork approved centrally. Ask your brand representative for the current guidelines before commissioning anything. Independent traders have more freedom but also more to design, so a simple consistent colour and typeface across signs and banners will look more established. Showroom glass can carry frosted bands or printed window graphics, but keep sightlines to the cars, as they are the real advertisement.

Forecourt offers that change every quarter

Plate-change months, sales events and finance offers come round regularly, so forecourt banners should be simple to replace and easy to fix. Keep your permanent branding apart from your temporary offers. Finance claims and pricing can be subject to advertising and consumer credit rules, so have your compliance contact approve any wording, including small print, and make sure the small print is large enough to read. Check also whether forecourt banners need consent where you are, particularly near roads.

Your questions.

Can graphics go on a leased demonstrator car?

Often, but check the lease first, as some agreements limit changes or charge for damage. Removable films are the usual choice, and paint condition matters, because repaired areas are more likely to lift on removal.

How do franchised dealers get showroom graphics approved?

Manufacturers normally set their own process. Ask your brand or area representative what must be submitted and when. We can supply proofs for that review, so allow time for it in your schedule.
