Give printed graphics the structure and finish they need.
Architect presentation boards put months of work in front of a client, a committee or a sceptical public, often for a single meeting. This page is for architects, landscape designers and planning consultants preparing mounted drawings and renders.

Hairlines that look delicate on screen can vanish or break up in print, particularly in pale grey. Export vector PDFs from your CAD or layout software rather than flattened images, embed fonts, and check that lineweights are set for the printed scale. Light tints in plans can drop out too. Renders usually arrive in RGB, so expect slight shifts in saturated colours when printed. For an important board, print one section as a proof. Our artwork guide covers PDF setup and bleed.
Think about the journey as much as the meeting. Foam-cored board is very light and suits an easel in a client's office, while foamex is tougher if boards are moved around or reused at several events. Our mounting and laminating service can bond your print to a suitable rigid backing. Matt lamination cuts down reflections in meeting rooms with overhead lighting, and it protects boards from fingers pointing at the plans, which happens more than anyone expects.
Boards for a public exhibition are read differently from a competition entry. Residents stand in a village hall with a cup of tea, so large plain headings, simple site plans and a clear before and after will serve them better than dense sheets of technical drawing. Number the boards so people can follow the sequence and reference them in feedback forms. Check whether your local authority or client has requirements for the consultation content. Allow time for a late change, as last minute design tweaks are common.
Very fine or pale lines may fall below what prints cleanly, especially if the file has been flattened to a low-resolution image. Export as a vector PDF, thicken hairlines and check a proof at full size.
Matt is usually chosen, because it cuts reflections in rooms with overhead lights and keeps drawings readable from an angle. Gloss makes renders punchier but can be harder to read in bright rooms.
