A0 canvas prints

This is the largest stretched canvas on our list: 841mm by 1189mm, or about 33in by 47in. It is the size of a small dining table top, and it comes ready to hang.

Large panels with a warm orange image in a lit room

Imagine a dining table on your wall.

A four-seat table top measures roughly 800mm x 1200mm, which gives you a good picture of an A0 canvas. It has an area of one square metre. Hung portrait, it runs from about waist height to well above most people's heads, if centred at eye level. In landscape, it will fill the wall above a large sofa. In most homes this will be the main thing in the room, so give it that role and do not surround it with other pictures.

Getting it through the door

Do this check before you order. A stretched canvas does not bend or roll. It is 36mm deep, and its long side is nearly 1.2m, so it needs a clear path through the house. Usually a front door is no problem, but winding stairs and the tight turns in old flats can be. Many hatchbacks will not take it flat, either. If access is a real issue, canvas can be supplied rolled and stretched on site by a framer. Ask us about that option.

Two ways to buy

A0 canvas, price per print
OptionPrice
Canvas print stretched over a 36mm frame£119.00
Heavyweight artist canvas, loose print£58

Guide prices from our price list. They exclude VAT and delivery and assume print-ready artwork.

The stretched price gets you a canvas ready for the wall. A loose print suits a framer you already use, or a custom stretcher. For a smaller piece, see A1 canvas prints.

What your file needs

  • Target: at 150 pixels per inch, you need about 4,970 x 7,020 pixels. The texture of canvas is forgiving, and for a print seen from a few paces, less can work.
  • A 24 megapixel camera gives 6,000 x 4,000 pixels. On the long side of the print, that is about 128 pixels per inch, which is normally fine for a canvas at this distance.
  • Shape: A sizes are about 1.41 to 1, and a 3:2 camera file is 1.5 to 1, so you will lose a small strip from the long sides.
  • Phone photos: these are a stretch. See enlarging a phone photo first, and let us look at the file.

Allow for the wrap

The canvas goes around 36mm bars, so the image has to do something at the edges. On a big piece this eats into your picture, and it can cut through a face or an important detail. Keep key elements well inside the frame. Tell us if you would prefer a mirrored or plain colour edge, so that the whole image stays on the front. We will confirm how much extra your file needs.

Hanging it

The canvas itself is fairly light for its size, but it is big enough to catch a draught or a passing shoulder. Fix it with two hooks, not one, so that it stays level, and use fixings that suit the wall. Keep it out of direct sun and well away from radiators. Our guide to hanging a large canvas takes you through the steps.

A quick trial

Cut newspaper or lining paper to 841mm x 1189mm and tape it up. Live with it for a day or two. It is common to think it looks huge at first, and then to see that it suits the room.

Useful to know

Your questions.

Does an A0 canvas need a brace across the back?

Larger frames can benefit from extra support. Ask us about your print, and we will tell you how it will be built.

Can a frame be added around the canvas?

Yes, framing is available on request. Bear in mind that it adds to both the size and the weight.

Can you make a canvas larger than A0?

Our list stops at A0 for stretched canvas, but ask us if you need a bigger piece, and we will tell you what can be done.
