Create adaptable graphics with printed self-adhesive vinyl and cut lettering.
Self-adhesive vinyl printing covers anything from a small label to a whole shop counter. This page is for anyone who wants a sticky-backed print but is unsure which film and glue to specify.

Vinyl films differ mainly in how they are made. Monomeric calendered film is economical and suits flat surfaces and shorter jobs. Polymeric calendered film is more stable, so it shrinks less and lasts longer. Cast film is thin and conformable, which is why it is used over rivets and curves, as on vehicle graphics. Lifespans vary by manufacturer and exposure. Tell us the surface shape and how long the graphic must last, and we can suggest a sensible film from our vinyl printing options.
The glue matters as much as the film. Permanent adhesive grips hard and can be difficult to remove cleanly, which is fine for a sign panel but not for a hired venue. Removable adhesive is designed to come away within a stated period, though results vary with the surface and with age. Air-release liners have tiny channels that let trapped air escape, so larger panels are easier to apply without bubbles. If you are fitting it yourself, mention it, as that may change the choice.
A clear overlaminate protects the print from scuffs, cleaning and some UV exposure, and it lets you choose a gloss or matt finish. It also adds stiffness, which can make application easier on flat panels but harder around tight curves. Short-term indoor stickers may not need one, while anything touched or washed regularly usually benefits. In self-adhesive vinyl printing, shaped pieces can be contour cut, so supply a cut line as a separate vector layer. Glass is a different case, covered under window graphics.
It can, but adhesion depends on the paint, the texture and how long the paint has cured. Low-energy or dusty surfaces can reject the glue. Testing a small piece first is the sensible way to find out.
This depends on the job and the printing method, so ask us with your artwork. Without a white layer, colours on clear film look translucent and take on whatever sits behind them.
